LIHTC Basics Workshop
LIHTC Basics Workshop
This one-day Federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) workshop is specially designed for property managers, office staff or other persons new to working in LIHTC. It is also beneficial to seasoned managers and staff to refresh their current knowledge and learn about the most recent and ever-changing regulations regarding HOTMA (Housing Opportunities Through Modernization Act of 2016) which became effective January 1, 2024. HOTMA does affect all facets of affordable housing, including LIHTC, and it is important that front-line staff are trained in regard to these changes.
This training will include a brief background of the LIHTC program, with an emphasis being placed on Income/Asset Calculations, Qualifying a Household, Recertifications, and Compliance. We will discuss the new definitions of who is considered a family member; what is counted as income, including asset income; what is and what is not considered an asset; income and asset exclusions; the new rules regarding student financial assistance; along with other critical HOTMA changes and updates.
In addition, we will briefly discuss how LIHTC and the Federal HOME program work together and the major differences you need to know about the programs to maintain compliance.
All participants receive a Certificate of Attendance and a resourceful user’s manual related to this training which contains a plethora of sample forms that may be used in your day-to-day operations.
